“It is Dr. Hazelbaker’s belief that the posterior tongue tie is actually a tongue restriction created by events related to fetal development or birth much like torticollis. She feels that this type of tongue restriction is completely separate from a tongue tie. Indeed, tongue restriction not associated with tongue tie is often paired with torticollis or craniosacral restrictions. And the professionals who are most effective at treating non-tongue tie restrictions are those in the bodywork field.”

One of the reasons I do what I do…
“The way in which we welcome our children into the world has huge impacts on mental health and well-being. While it’s often easy to get sucked into the debate of the best places to birth or the best ways to birth, what ultimately matters is how supported a woman feels about her birthing choices and experience.
“According to a new study in the American Journal of Maternal/Child Nursing, a woman’s childbirth experience, including the care that she receives during the immediate postpartum period, has long-term health implications for her and her family. Specifically, how prepared a woman feels for birth can increase her perception of satisfaction regarding her experience.”
